Updated physical distancing rules on campus
On Tuesday, the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities provided new direction to all universities and colleges on physical distancing requirements for the Fall.
Effective September 7th:
- Physical distancing requirements will no longer be required for indoor instructional spaces. (e.g., classrooms, laboratories, libraries, in-person experiential learning etc.).
- Physical distancing continues to be required in all other indoor non-instructional spaces on campus, including offices, athletics, cafeterias, hallways, and other areas.
- Discretionary events will return to campus this Fall with a gradual re-opening focused on the health and safety of the McMaster community, following the provincial guidelines for gatherings in Step 3.
Environmental & Occupational Health Support Services (EOHSS) has provided information on how to assess workspaces, including the Workplace COVID-19 Supervisor Checklist, which includes ways to adjust the workplace to help prevent transmission of COVID-19.
Supervisors can reference the guide on the Back to Mac website with more information on how to prepare for returning to campus.
More information on required health and safety measures can be found here.
The pace of developments continues to quicken. There will be important information coming out over the next two days that will confirm the MacCheck digital tool. Everyone will need to use the MacCheck digital tool to upload their proof of vaccinations and complete screening and COVID testing options for approval to come to campus, as well as to apply for exemption to the vaccination policy. Please ensure that you are watching for these communications and that you share them broadly within your areas.
