Vaccination proof required for visitors, volunteers, contractors, and lessees
Beginning September 7th, anyone attending a McMaster campus or facility location (including hospital settings) is required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. This includes anyone who does not have a McMaster MacID, such as visitors, contractors, volunteers, or an employee of an external organization that leases space from McMaster.
Visitors must use the McMaster Safety App to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination no more than one hour before you attend a McMaster campus or facility location (including hospital settings). Visitors without proof of full COVID-19 vaccination cannot attend a McMaster location. This includes all employees of organizations that lease space from McMaster.
Similarly, all volunteers and independent contractors who work on site must use the McMaster Safety App to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination no more than one hour before you attend a McMaster campus or facility location (including hospital settings). Volunteers and independent contractors may not attend a McMaster campus or facility location unless they are fully vaccinated or have received an approved exemption from the university on the basis of a substantiated human rights ground. More information on exemptions can be found on the FAQ page.
All large Contractors with multiple employees working on site must also attest to the vaccination status of their employees or provide a valid exemption on the basis of a substantiated human rights ground. Contractors with teams of employees working at McMaster will be contacted with specific instructions on how to go about this compliance process.
Members of the public coming to a McMaster location and remain outside only, such as dog walkers or jogger on campus, or who only go into a building for less than fifteen minutes, such as delivery personnel, are not required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
An FAQ has been developed outlining in detail the process for visitors, volunteers, contractors and employees of organizations who lease space from McMaster on the Back to Mac website.
You can download and use the McMaster Safety App on any internet connected Apple or Android device.
